Oxygen therapy is an original non-toxic treatment method for a number of diseases that until recently could not be treated in other ways.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy  as it is scientifically called, is a form of therapy in which the patient breathes 100% oxygen, at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, in specially designed chambers.

Breathing pure oxygen under conditions of increased pressure results in a large dissolution of Oxygen in the blood.

When the partial pressure of Oxygen passes the two atmospheres, then the dissolved Oxygen in the blood plasma is enough to cover the metabolic needs of the organism, even without hemoglobin.

This spectacular new method of treatment has now begun to be applied in Cyprus to the modern facilities of the Oxygen Medical Center in Limassol.

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are rare and are usually due to increased pressure inside the chamber. Patients are likely to feel slight pressure in their ears just like on an airplane. The problem is treated immediately with proper handling.

During treatment, patients sit comfortably, wear Oxygen masks, and read, write, or simply relax.

How often is the treatment given?

The usual duration of treatment is  usually 60 to 90 minutes. Treatments are based on treatment protocols usually once a day, unless necessary and a second time a day.
